Would you believe this if I told you that -- You are overweight for the most simple of reasons -- because you're eating the wrong foods, the wrong way with wrong types of calories and you're also eating meals in the wrong patterns each day. Step 1: Eat at fixed times of the day and really pay attention to your eating. Fix up the times so that you are really hungry before you eat. Dont ever eat to quell boredom, since more often than not you are eating when you are not hungry in such a case. If you are bored, stressed or upset, a better thing to do woulf be to do some good reading, going for a walk or simply talking to your friends, but never eating. Gradually when you delvelop this habit, you would also find that you are eating healthy wholesome food. It is a good idea to find ways to cut the fat down in your diet and go for fibrous foods.
Step 2: Eat slowly. When we were young, our mother said " you must chew your food thirty two times before you swallow". While the number thirty two is not sacrosanct, the general idea is to chew through your every bite compleatly before taking in the next. This habit is something we have usually got out of, and yet it is very good for our digestion.
Step 3: Get up froum your couch,and move about. In other words, increase your physical activity. Get into the habit of walking for small errands, go for a bicycle ride, play a game of football, walk up the stairs instead of using the elevator or go for a swim. Enjoy your physical activity, reduce your pace and make it fun.
These are lifestyle changes, not diet recommendations. So you may be dropping weight and looking better more incrementally than you like, but these positive changes will stick with you for life.
