A Cleaveland team originated in the 1900 as the Lake Shores when the American League was still a minor league. In Cleveland Ohio, the club was founded. The Cleveland was among its eight charter members playing in the Central division of MLB's American League. It was in 1902, Cleveland's American League team, that they named themselves Bronchos, had its first winning season with a 69-67 record and were positioned at fifth place.
They done half a game short of the pennant in 1908. Lajoie then resigned as manager but remained as the player during the 1909 season.

During the 1980s, Indians owners had pushed for a new stadium. The ballpark hosted its first World Series where the Indians lost to Atlanta Braves after the inaugural season in 1994.
